Harley Davidson suspension and frame

First of all, the suspension helps absorb the imperfections of the road. Thus, the tires remain in contact with the ground most of the time. Besides, it helps to maintain the stability of the frame in running order. On the other hand, the stability of the bike is transmitted for optimal traction and steering.

The components of the suspensions and shock absorbers

In principle, the first element of cushioning lies in the tire, which deforms to absorb the irregularity. However, the force passes through the rim to the fork tubes, which compress with the springs and absorb energy.

After the impact, the springs are extended to keep the tire in contact with the ground as much as possible. Thus, this system allows the release and absorption of energy at all times. However, the latter can complicate driving while ensuring road holding.

For this reason, the suspension and its springs are added to the damping system. The latter then divert some of the energy accumulated by friction. Likewise, it allows for the smoothing of the tower and the speed of compression and extension.

On the other hand, the fork passes oil through a series of valves, allowing for smooth control and movement.

To improve the suspension system

At first glance, there are several ways you can improve your motorcycle's front suspension. However, you can simply increase the quality of the oil and the fork springs.

This is because the oil deteriorates over time and absorbs debris and moisture. Thus, it loses its qualities. Depending on your driving style, you can change it to a slightly denser one.

However, the springs do wear out with long-term use. Finally, you can opt for smooth and hard springs to enjoy more safety and ride quality.

First, a Softail motorcycle does not display a para-shock in the rear. The finish of the frame gives the appearance of a rigid frame. However, the shocks hide horizontally under the frame, for a classic look.

Thus, the shocks for these models work by extension, that is, they stretch instead of compressing like a conventional shock absorber.
